SOME INTERESTING & useful DOG RELATED websiteS ......

BUT BEFORE THAT   If by chance you are here and confused because you were looking for ‘THE DOG RETREAT’ IN KENT run by SHARON ROWE and you’re not sure why you’ve ended up in rural Somerset, please follow this link and you’ll instantly be back home in Kent  :  www.homeboardingkent.co.uk

Here's another local home dog boarding establishment (just in case I can’t help you!) :-

I can definitely recommend Carole’s Happy Dog Homestay which also happens to be the nearest alternative licensed dog home boarding establishment.  She’s based just a couple of miles away from us in Street.  And Charlie is a lovely chap – he spends his holidays with us here and ours think he's great – and particularly if you have a playful dog, your dog will just love Charlie and have a fantastic holiday!

She's got a great website - take a look at www.happydoghomestay.co.uk

Plus there’s lots of really useful info on these websites  :-

www.nationalpetregister.com

To a dog owner who’s pet has gone missing, what can be more important than a website that helps to track down lost dogs and cats.

www.nhbr.co.uk

The National Home Boarding Register has a huge amount of information on home boarding and pet sitting all over the UK.  At no cost you can access contact details for pet businesses offering their services.  This is an extremely comprehensive website and covers the whole of the country.

www.dogpages.org.uk

The most popular dog rescue site in the UK with up to 37,000 visitors a day.  It aims to encourage more people to consider adopting one of the thousands of dogs just waiting for a new ‘forever’ home.  A really comprehensive, yet non-commercial, site run entirely by volunteers.  There are over 1000 contacts listed, including many small rescue centres and also breed-specific centres.  Another site doing some excellent work.

www.vetclick.co.uk

A national veterinary website – find a vet in your locality easily with this site. But there's much more to it than that. .....  As well as also being a professional website for vets there is lots of information on here for the pet owner and also a forum where there are discussions and advice on pet health as well as much, much more.

If you’re currently looking for your special ‘forever’ dog, please give a thought to those dogs that are in desperate need of a loving home – if you click on the name of the local animal sanctuary listed below, it’ll take you straight to their website :-

Heavens Gate,  Henley, Langport, Somerset

Happy Landings, Shepton Mallet, Somerset  -

We got our dog, Jake, from Happy Landings a couple of years ago.  He'd had a difficult life sharing a small house with an huge number of other dogs - so much so that his back legs were very wasted from lack of exercise.  He 's an old boy, probably about 12 or so now but nobody knows for sure.  They said that the older ones are the hardest to re-home - not because there's anything wrong with him, more because most people want an energetic, playful young dog.  As Jake's legs have strengthened he's turned out to be a playful chap.  He's been an absolute treasure and we love him to bits.
