What do we
do?
Our overall aim is to provide an enjoyable,
safe, caring environment for your dog while you have to be somewhere else.
The
idea was born from the fact that our own dogs are very much country dogs, used
to spending lots of time running around in our fields and then coming home to
curl up in the comfort of their beds or wherever looks comfortable at the
time.
We
know many dogs are just fine with kennels, but ours just didn’t enjoy the whole
experience. And knowing they’re not
enjoying themselves makes our own break not so enjoyable. We’re sure we’re not the only ones who have
this problem.
Well
we’re lucky in that we have some great facilities here :-
·
A
large modern farmhouse in a secluded position well away from main roads
·
A
secure large grassy garden
·
12
acres of our own fields for walks
So
that’s how we cam to decide to be where we are now - licensed by our local Sedgemoor District
Council to offer the service of dog home-boarding and doggie daycare for
sociable dogs – those that would be happier spending their holidays in a rural
home environment.
Our
licence allows us to board up to 6 visiting dogs not including our own. However, as we have three dogs ourselves we
think this feels like too many. We have
never boarded the full 6 at one time.
Even at busy times - Glastonbury Festival for instance - we had 5 dogs staying with us during that
period this year. (And by some strange coincidence they were all
Labradors... and a very nice bunch they were too! – but them maybe I’m biased
because I can’t think of any dogs that have stayed with us that haven’t been an
absolute pleasure to have here). But anyway,
for the most part we keep the number of visiting dogs to 1 or 2 at any one
time. That gives visiting dogs the
chance to form a good bond with our own.
Once
a bond between dogs is made it is never lost.
Dogs that have stayed with us once instantly remember our dogs as ours
do them and it’s like they start off again where they left off the last time
they were here.
A
typical day might be something like this :-
·
6.30am Ad lib access to our securely fenced garden
·
8am
– 10am Walk in the fields followed by
breakfast
·
10am
– 1pm Rest session with intermittent
play sessions if required!
·
1pm Walk in the fields
·
2pm
Rest session with intermittent play
sessions if required!
·
4.30pm Walk in the fields
·
6pm Relaxing evening meal followed by restful
evening with us in our living room
·
10pm Ad lib access to our garden again before
retiring to bed
If
your dog needs exercise you can be sure there will be plenty. Likewise if your dog needs only gentle
movement, that is what your dog will
get. Older and younger dogs will never feel left
out. We tailor everything your dog needs
to it’s own individual requirements, so if you let us know on your booking form
what your dog’s normal daily regime is we will stick as closely to that as we
can. We’re in the countryside here and
we do different walks in our own fields three times a day to suit the age and
abilities of our guests.
INCIDENTALLY,
